This week I celebrated a big non scale victory. On Wednesday, January 11th I celebrated my one year anniversary at my gym, attending regularly throughout the year. I’ve lost 30 lbs and made fitness a part of my life. I schedule it in each week and do my best to make it work. I also have friends at my gym, and I love going there.
I remember plain as day, one year ago, sitting in my parents living room telling them about the gym and this group and asking them for their help in watching Henry so I could do it. I was desperate and depressed and as fat as I’ve ever been in my whole life. And I remember both of them saying they would do it, without even thinking about it. I had the same conversation with my husband, and he did not hesitate to support me in this. And to this day he never ever complains or is put out when I go to the gym. I appreciate my support team so much.
And, here is a picture I took on Wednesday of my special lady, Robin. She is the one that was the leader of our support group. She is such a sweet lady and so supportive and loving. She is one of the reasons I keep coming back to my gym. She is another member of my support team.
As you can tell the way Henry is looking at her that he loves his Robin. Henry knows good people.
My friends Asha and Beth have been a huge daily support with nutrition and fitness goals, as we go along this journey together. We are at different places in our journeys but the struggles are the same. My friend Amy goes to the gym, and we do body pump together. That is also a great support to me. My friend, Liz has been a constant in this weight loss struggle with me for as long as we’ve been friends. She has been so successful she is an inspiration to me and a source of motivation to stick to it!!!
This year was full of many ups and downs. I learned I would not have any more kids. I learned that I needed an antidepressant to function. I learned that I was stronger than I ever imagined. I learned that I love the way exercise and eating right makes me feel. I learned that if I want to meet my goals I have to work for them. I learned I have the best support system ever.
I am proud of the changes I’ve made in 2016 and I’m ready to lose some serious poundage in 2017. I signed up for a weight loss challenge that is a fundraiser for a local organization called the Springfield Peace Center. The pot is 950 bucks and if you have the highest percentage weight loss between now and April 29th you win the pot! I am not going to let it make me neurotic like I got with the one year at the gym, I am just going to go about my business and hope for the best. But man, we could really use that money!! Ha ha.
Here are some pictures of me and my buddy this morning:
On Wednesday, not only was it my fitness Anniversary it was Henry’s first stomach flu. It was so sad and exhausting. I called into work for the next day when I knew what was happening and my mom got the flu at the exact same time. Like within minutes of Henry! It was crazy. She had it way worse but he had it pretty bad. Then my dad got it and he was traveling! I got a touch of it last night and today. I never got all the way sick I was just super nauseous and exhausted. I slept 10 hours last night and 2 hours this afternoon and I still feel like I could go to bed soon. I was bummed because I missed this fun event at our gym this morning. But, there’s no way I could’ve made it.
Anyway, this is way too long. I’m gonna peace out!
Xoxoxo,
Beth WA
