Whole30 Day 9

Well today when I woke up I wasn’t feeling it. But by the time I ate breakfast and got moving I had a much better outlook. Then I did something you’re not supposed to do on Whole30 and I weighed myself. You guys, I am down 9 lbs in 9 days! I am so thrilled. But now I am going to stay off until day 30.

I had eggs and sweet potato spirals for breakfast and while eggs aren’t my favorite that breakfast really fuels me and I feel good after I eat it. Then I went and did an Alzheimer’s Fundraiser walk with my friend, Heather. I walked to the walk and home so I ended up having 10,000 steps by noon!

Then I was panicked because I was going home to an empty house thirsty and starving with no plan whatsoever. So, I started planning on my walk mentally going over what I had at home. I decided to have a glass of water and an RX bar as soon as I got home.

These bars have saved my life on this Whole30. Then I prepared chicken salad with some chicken thighs I had made in the crock pot earlier this week, compliant mayo, scallions and grapes. I put it over romaine with a drizzle of Tessemae’s Balsamic Vinaigrette. It was satisfying and filling and I didn’t feel like shit after I ate it.

Then Craig, Henry and I drove to Trader Joe’s which is about 40 minutes away. Henry slept the whole time we drove down there, I shopped and we drove back. After going to TJ’s I felt much better about my week and the Whole30 in general. I was starving when we got home at 4, probably because of my walk, and ate a combination of these two things and it was amazing.

Coconut cashews are amazing. I will be going back for these!

We hung out for a while and then Craig grilled dinner.

And now I am relaxing on the couch before I do some house work. I might have a Kombucha later, my new obsession.

Hope everybody is having a great weekend!

PS I forgot to mention henry and Craig went to a swap meet while I was at my walk. Look at my cutie bug!

Whole 30 Day 8

I’m still hanging in. Today was the hardest day so far. I had two snacks this morning and a snack when I got home from school. I normally don’t have that many. Also, it’s Friday and when I got home from work I just wanted to order in. But, I cooked a simple, delicious and satisfying dinner and moved on. I didn’t get all of my meals but I got this:

Lunch was salad with Hawaiian chicken burger and compliant ranch dressing and strawberries and some nut butter.

Dinner was chicken sausage, roasted cauliflower and baked Japanese sweet potato with vanilla bean ghee and cinnamon. I use tomato paste in place of ketchup. I miss ketchup.

Well, I am pretty exhausted. And so was Henry.

Happy Friday everybody!

Whole30 Day 7

I’m still chugging along and still kind of dragging butt. This cold I have won’t go away!

The only pic I remembered to take was my half eaten lunch.

And this cake that my friends and I decided was whole 30 because it’s all plants.

g

I’m so tired and I have to get up early! Good night. Xoxoxox

Whole30 Day 6

Not much to report. I think my energy level is starting to come back. My cold seems to be at the tail end. I’m getting sick of eggs already. I don’t really like them to begin with, and every day is a lot. So tomorrow I am going to try a Glory Bowl – which is Chia pudding with toppings like banana and other fruit and nuts. We’ll see if that holds me over until morning snack.

I forgot to take pictures today! But my meals weren’t that pretty or remarkable.

My baby goes back to school tomorrow and he is very excited!

Good night, friends!

Henry’s first day of school + Whole 30 Day 5

Well, today was Henry’s first day of pre-school so there was a lot of anxiety in the house this morning as we were sending our little boy out into the world. It’s so scary and exciting at the same time. Our preschool program is amazing and I know he will do well, but I still had the butterflies. Drop off went great, he was so excited. Here are some pictures:

And my Whole30 is going well. I forgot to snap pictures of breakfast and lunch because of aforementioned preschool anxiety. I also didn’t eat enough at the meals and I was feeling a little bingey after school but instead I texted my good friends who are doing this, too and when I got home I split a banana and apple with Henry. I put almond butter on mine. Then, for dinner I made a casserole from Physical Kitchness that is called Tuscan Spaghetti Squash casserole. It was satisfying and filling and a pretty good casserole considering there was no cheese. 😂😂

My husband even liked it.

So far, the biggest realization I have had on this is the difference between how much shitty junk food I would need to feel satisfied and full vs how much real food it takes to satisfy and fill me up. It’s insane. I remember trying to lower my calories and thinking it was crazy because I was still hungry. Well, that’s because I was trying to eat nutritionless food frequently and still lose weight. Ugh.

Also, I am so much less bloated and puffy and red.

And I love not weighing and measuring every drop of food.

Okay, I’m off to bed. My bedtime app just told me it’s time! Hahahahaha.

Whole 30 Day 4

I am pooped from a weekend of household chores and getting the house ready for an inspector to come tomorrow. We are in the middle of refinancing and changing to a 15 year loan.

Anyway, today was day 4. I have a cold and Whole30 lethargy and fogginess. I took a one hour nap today that was solid. But now I’m going to bed.

Tomorrow is Henry’s first day of pre-school. I am so nervous! I hope he loves it.

Here’s my day of eats. I have an RX bar in the morning every day as a snack between breakfast and lunch but I never take a picture.

I missed ketchup so I used tomato paste until I make my own. Hahahaha.

Good night, friends!

Whole30 Day 3

I’m still Whole30ing and it’s going well! I resisted these temptations today:

And I ate these things:

Today was a productive day. Craig’s parent came over and him and his step dad painted the shed. Craig’s mom did a lot of cleaning up landscaping. I cleaned both bathrooms and the kitchen floor and hung up some pictures. I also gathered my recipes for the week and am going to do food prep tomorrow afternoon. In the morning I have to do some school work. I didn’t do anything on Saturday and I am regretting it, but this Whole30 + a summer cold has me tired as heck.

I’m looking forward to incorporating workouts this week. I miss it. And eventually I hope to get back to the gym at least twice a week in addition to my home workouts. One project I’ve been wanting to do for years and blog about is to go through and do all my workout videos. I have a lot. I mean, you name it, I have it! Maybe I’ll have to start that soon.

Well, I just took some Benadryl and I’m already exhausted so I am going to head to bed!

I hope you are all having a great Labor Day weekend! Sundays with no work on Monday are the best!

Whole 30 Day 2

Well, I had another day of good eats.

So far it’s been fine. I’ve learned I love ghee. Especially this ghee on a Japanese sweet potato.

I’ve been super tired and foggy all day. My parents took Henry to the boat because he was feeling better. Craig and I have so much to do around the house but today we both ended up doing a considerable amount of chilling. I am

hoping I wake up tomorrow feeling up to all of my tasks.

I miss my bug like crazy. But I know he’s having so much fun. And I’m so looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. 👍🏻👍🏻

Also, I feel so much less puffy and bloated than I did three days ago. I am glad that feeling has left me. I have so many recipes to sift through tomorrow to make a meal plan for next week. I am excited because I’ve seen so many delicious recipes it’s going to be hard to choose!

Hope everybody is having a great weekend!

Whole 30

Hi guys! Today I started a Whole30. I am glad I chose September 1st as it’s a 3 day weekend and I can do some cooking and some prep. Also, I am super happy it’s the big Whole30 because tons of bloggers I follow are doing it and there are so many resources. I ate well today and pretty much followed to a tee the “no big deal” part of this description.

I ate well and never felt hungry except for the 6.5 hours between breakfast and lunch – so I had an RX bar, and of course I was hungry at my meal times. I know I’m going to be majorly detoxing the next few days or week.

But today went well. And I’ll take that.

I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Here’s what I ate today:

Breakfast:

Lunch:

Dinner:

I didn’t eat all of that food on my dinner plate but most of it!

I’m super tired because Henry has a cold and had a hard time sleeping last night and since lately he’s my bedmate that means I wasn’t getting much sleep either!

I seriously feel like I could go to bed right this second.

The school year has been going well and fast! I am already super behind in grading. I’m hoping to get caught up this weekend. Henry’s cold threw a wrench in our plans because he was supposed to go away with my parents this weekend. I was looking forward to it a little more than I should be. Hahahahaha. But, what are you gonna do? 🤷🏼‍♀️

We are thinking he got the cold at pre school meet the teacher. Yeah, you heard me -PRESCHOOL!

His first day is Tuesday and I’m super nervous to release him into the world even though I know he’s gonna love it!

In other news- I miss the gym. I miss my gym friends. I need to figure out how to get it back in my life.

How are y’all!!??

I did it!

You guys! I did it. And it wasn’t even that hard. I gained all my weight back.

😂😂😂

Ok, it’s not really funny and kind of depressing, but I am determined not to give up. I had to come up with a new plan for myself and I’ve been giving myself with some tough love- that this isn’t going to be easy and sometimes I will be uncomfortable and I can’t rely on instant gratification. I need to put in the work.

So, I’ve been reading all of the Whole 30 books and it is really different than I thought it was. It’s not a diet, it’s a reset of your body/hormones and basically life to give you an idea of what works for your body and what doesn’t. I devoured “It Starts with Food,” and am now reading the book called “Whole 30.” Then I plan on reading “Food Freedom Forever.” These are all books by the Whole30 creators.

Anyway, I am doing a Whole30 in September and I am SO ready!

I am very tired of being so uncomfortable all of the time. I think this Whole30 will help with my joint pain and my psoriasis as well as some other health issues I have.

As for exercise I am going to try *again* to get up at 5 but workout at home instead of the gym. I am making myself do this for 30 school days. And if I still don’t feel better/more energy and am tired all of the time then I will reevaluate. I am going to start this Monday morning. 👍🏻

Other than that, things are actually going well. We just had a really fun weekend at the boat and had a family party up there for my Aunt’s 70th birthday. She is my god mother and one of my favorite people on the planet. ❤️

It was a fun party that included beach time and food and party time right on the lake. Many of my favorite family members were there and we had a good time catching up.

We got our house painted on the inside in all of the rooms downstairs and it looks SO much better. I love it so much!!! Soon we will be getting our downstairs bathroom done. Woo hoo.

Well my mom is watching Henry and I have tons of stuff to do so I am going to get to work!

Hope you are all well. I hope to blog almost every day of my whole 30. But who knows with me! Hahaha
